The Nordvox choir from the Conservatoire du Nord made a brilliant impression on the international stage by winning First Prize in its category at the 18th International Choral Competition (Concorso Chorale Internationale), held from 30 March to 2 April 2026 in Riva del Garda, Italy.
Out of ten choirs from various European countries, the Nordvox Choir impressed the jury by achieving the highest score in category A1 ‘mixed choirs’, thereby winning a gold medal. With a remarkable score of 25.42 points — the highest across all categories — the Luxembourg ensemble narrowly edged out the choir from Riga (Rīgas Stradiņa universitātes jauktā kora ‘Rīga’).
Conducted by Matthias Rajczyk, Nordvox was taking part in this competition for the first time. This exceptional performance saw them through to the final, where the result was reversed and the Riga choir narrowly edged out Nordvox.
Founded in 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nordvox quickly made a name for itself through the richness and diversity of its repertoire, ranging from Renaissance and Romantic-era a cappella singing to contemporary works and pop arrangements.
Our heartfelt congratulations to our students in the Nordvox ensemble and to their choir director Matthias Rajczyk for this wonderful performance!
